Childcare Center

Welcome to Gardenia Childcare Center!
We are a nature-inspired early learning community serving children from birth to six years of age. Our unique Gardenia approach brings together meaningful academics, emotional intelligence and global awareness, as our signature Humanity Curriculum™ helps children develop empathy, cultural understanding and a deep appreciation for the natural world. We are also proud to be one of the few early childhood programs in Minnesota to offer a numeracy curriculum inspired by the internationally recognized Singapore Math approach, helping children build strong problem-solving skills.
At Gardenia, we believe childhood should be both meaningful and with a deep connection to the world. We have created calm and thoughtfully designed spaces where children feel safe to explore and make new discoveries.
We are located in the welcoming community of Saint Paul Park, Minnesota, just minutes from Cottage Grove and Woodbury.
Our Mission
To nurture confident, compassionate, and curious children through nature-inspired learning, meaningful relationships, and a globally minded approach to early childhood education. We cultivate environments where children, families, and educators flourish together.
Our Vision
To become a leading community of boutique early childhood schools where every child is inspired to explore with wonder, grow with confidence, care for the natural world, and embrace the richness of our global community. We envision generations of children who lead with kindness, think with curiosity, and contribute with purpose.
Why Families Choose Gardenia
A Note from the Founder
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Welcome to Gardenia and thank you for considering us for your child's early years education!
Gardenia was created from an idea that children should grow alongside nature and learn what it is to truly be human in this fast-evolving world. Shaped by my experiences as an educator, designer and mother, I wanted to create a place where nature inspires curiosity and where emotional intelligence is valued just as much as academic achievements.
The journey from my home country of Singapore to Minnesota helped me experience the strengths of two education systems- from working at international schools in Singapore, corporate childcare management in Minnesota as well as running my own nature-based in-home childcare program. Gardenia brings together the best of both—concrete foundations inspired by the Singapore curriculum and the creativity and individuality encouraged through an American education. Combined with our signature Humanity Curriculum™, we aim to help children build the skills and values needed for the future.
Just as importantly, I wanted Gardenia to be a place where educators feel respected and supported. Being an educator, I believe children thrive when the adults who care for them do too.
If our values and approach resonate with your family's hopes for your child's early years, it would be my privilege to welcome your family into our community.
Warmly,
Edwina Paffel
